The APEC Meeting of 2018 will be in Port Moresby !
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation better known as APEC is a forum for 21 Pacific Rim member economies , which generally promotes free trade throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
It has 21 members, including most countries with a coastline on the Pacific Ocean .
Correspondingly, the criterion for membership is that, surprisingly the member is a separate economy, rather than a state.
However, in January 1989, Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke called for more effective economic cooperation across the Pacific Rim region.
This significantly led to the first meeting of APEC in the Australian capital of Canberra in November, chaired by Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Gareth Evans. Nonetheless ministers from twelve countries attended the meeting, concluded with commitments for future annual meetings in Singapore and Korea .
Hence, it has long been at the forefront of reform efforts, in the area of business facilitation.
APEC Meeting Port Moresby 2018
The powerful meeting of global leaders will take place accordingly from November 12- 18, 2018.
With the dates set, it is estimated that , undoubtedly about 2000 international accredited journalists will be in Port Moresby for this major event.
